On 26 July 2025, the Annual General Meeting combined with the Family Fun Day of the Canberra Vietnamese Association (CVAS) took place, bringing together warmth, laughter, and great success. The event welcomed many Vietnamese families across Canberra—from children to parents—gathered around tables filled with delicious dishes that everyone contributed. CVAS Fund raising – Sausage sizzling at Bunning Belconnen – 21 June 2025
🎉 CVAS’s First Sausage Sizzle: Sizzling Success at Bunnings Belconnen! On 21 June 2025, CVAS (hosted its first-ever fundraising sausage sizzle at Bunnings Belconnen — and what a triumph it was! As part of its new fundraising squash of events, this milestone marked CVAS’s debut in grassroots community fundraising. 🌭 Fired Up and Ready The team arrived early in the morning—around 7:30 AM—to set up the gazebo, BBQ, and serving tables, fully embracing Bunnings’ guidelines (aprons, gloves, hygiene, and closed-toe shoes). Everyone was in sync and ready to roll, creating a welcoming setup that attracted customers as soon as Bunnings opened. 🚀 Nearly 1,000 Sausages Sold! Almost 1,000 sausages had been sold—an incredible feat for a first-time event! Demand remained strong throughout the day, showing that good food and good cheer are a powerful combination. That’s around 1 snag sold every 20 seconds over an eight-hour shift—talk about efficiency! 👥 Team Effort & Community Vibes Behind every sale was a dedicated volunteer crew: Their coordination and enthusiasm made a busy day seem effortless—and it also spread CVAS’s name among locals in a friendly, approachable way. ❤️ Gratitude A heartfelt thank-you goes out to: 🌱 Onward and Upward This first event showcased what CVAS can achieve when community members unite with purpose and heart. CVAS Fund raising – Sausage sizzling at Bunning Gunghalin – 20 Jul 2025 What a day it was at Bunnings Gungahlin! Following the success of our sausage sizzle at Bunnings Belconnen about a month ago, we enjoyed another solid day of community support with nearly 700 sausages sold, From the first sizzle in the morning to the last snag served in the afternoon, the aroma of delicious sausages drew in families, tradies, weekend shoppers, and plenty of hungry supporters. It wasn’t just about the food — it was about community spirit, and Gungahlin truly showed up. This incredible day wouldn’t have been possible without the tireless efforts of our amazing volunteers. Whether you were behind the BBQ, wrapping bread, serving with a smile, or helping clean up, your time and energy made this event a standout success. Thank you for giving up your weekend to support a great cause! We’d also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Bunnings Gungahlin for hosting us and providing such a welcoming space for the event.
