Established in September 2024

The Vietnamese community in Canberra is buzzing with excitement! As more people join us, we’ve seen plenty of spontaneous small gatherings—lots of fun but craving something bigger. Many in the community have been wishing for a way to connect and celebrate our vibrant culture together. That’s when the founders of the Canberra Vietnamese Association (CVAS) had a lightbulb moment: if we don’t create an association now, when will we? And just like that, CVAS was born on September 2, 2024!

The Canberra Vietnamese Association (a.k.a. CVAS) is an independent, apolitical, and non-profit organisation established to advance the culture and well-being of the Vietnamese community in the Capital Region

Mission

Our mission is to share and promote Vietnamese culture within the Canberra community while creating a platform for individuals and businesses to connect and give back. We aim to facilitate the sharing of expertise, cultural experiences, and knowledge, all while consolidating and streamlining activities to make the process of giving back more enjoyable and engaging for everyone involved.

Vision

Our vision is to nurture and preserve Vietnamese culture for future generations, creating a vibrant community where young people can connect with their heritage. We aspire to inspire pride in our rich traditions, fostering a sense of belonging and cultural identity that empowers the next generation to carry our legacy forward.
