🎉 CVAS’s First Sausage Sizzle: Sizzling Success at Bunnings Belconnen!
On 21 June 2025, CVAS (hosted its first-ever fundraising sausage sizzle at Bunnings Belconnen — and what a triumph it was! As part of its new fundraising squash of events, this milestone marked CVAS’s debut in grassroots community fundraising.
🌠Fired Up and Ready
The team arrived early in the morning—around 7:30 AM—to set up the gazebo, BBQ, and serving tables, fully embracing Bunnings’ guidelines (aprons, gloves, hygiene, and closed-toe shoes). Everyone was in sync and ready to roll, creating a welcoming setup that attracted customers as soon as Bunnings opened.

🚀 Nearly 1,000 Sausages Sold!
Almost 1,000 sausages had been sold—an incredible feat for a first-time event! Demand remained strong throughout the day, showing that good food and good cheer are a powerful combination. That’s around 1 snag sold every 20 seconds over an eight-hour shift—talk about efficiency!
👥 Team Effort & Community Vibes
Behind every sale was a dedicated volunteer crew:
- Lead cook: Managed the BBQ and kept sausages perfectly grilled.
- Order and serving crew: Kept the line moving smoothly with bread, onions, sauces—all while fielding cash and contactless payments.
- Float manager: Handled cash and ensured accurate change.
- Clean‑up and restock team: Ensured supplies stayed stocked and the site stayed tidy.

Their coordination and enthusiasm made a busy day seem effortless—and it also spread CVAS’s name among locals in a friendly, approachable way.
